Trezor Suite — Getting started

Install, connect, secure, and use Trezor Suite safely — a concise practical guide.
Suite • Quickstart

Why use Trezor Suite?

Trezor Suite is the official companion application for Trezor hardware wallets. It provides a secure interface for managing accounts, sending and receiving transactions, installing apps, and updating firmware. Suite keeps sensitive operations anchored on your hardware device, minimizing exposure to compromised hosts.

1 — Download and verify

Download Trezor Suite from the official Trezor website. Verify the download using the checksums or PGP signatures provided by the project when available. Verifying ensures the file hasn’t been tampered with. Avoid third-party mirrors or links from social media.

2 — Install and launch

Install the Suite on your operating system. When launching, the app will prompt to connect a Trezor device. Connect with the supplied USB cable. The hardware will display a pairing prompt; confirm on the device before proceeding. Only proceed if the device shows the expected startup message.

3 — Initial setup

If this is a new device, choose Create new wallet and follow the on-device instructions to set a PIN and write your recovery seed. If you are restoring, select Recover wallet and carefully enter your seed words. Use offline or physically secure locations for seed backup actions.

4 — Firmware & app management

Suite will check device firmware and recommend updates when needed. Only install firmware delivered and signed by the official source via Suite. Use the built-in app manager to enable support for specific blockchains and currencies.

Daily use: receiving and sending

To receive funds, select the account and copy the receiving address. Always verify the address on the Trezor device screen. When sending, Suite prepares the transaction but the device displays final details — confirm the amount, fee, and destination on the hardware before approving. On-device confirmation prevents malicious host modifications.

5 — Privacy and advanced features

Suite supports coin control, UTXO selection, address reuse warnings, and passphrase-protected hidden wallets. Use coin control to manage privacy and fee behavior. Enable passphrases only if you understand the additional risks and backup responsibilities.

6 — Backup and recovery

Your recovery seed is the single most important backup. Store it offline in multiple secure locations, ideally using fireproof/waterproof materials. If you lose access to your device, the seed lets you restore funds on another compatible wallet. Never store the seed digitally.

Troubleshooting

Device not recognized

Try another USB port or cable. Reboot the host and reinstall Suite if needed. Check OS permissions for USB access.

Firmware update failed

Disconnect and reconnect the device and retry. If issues persist, consult official support and avoid third-party recovery tools.

This guide is a practical companion to the official documentation. Always consult the official Trezor website for downloads, firmware signatures, and support resources.
